La ciudad portuaria tiene unos 500.000 habitantes. <\/p>\n<p> En el siglo XVI hab\u00eda un peque\u00f1o pueblo de pescadores en el emplazamiento de la actual Rotterdam. Pero tras la construcci\u00f3n de un puerto en el siglo XVI, el pueblo pesquero se convirti\u00f3 en una ciudad en auge. <\/p>\n<p> Rotterdam alcanz\u00f3 su mayor esplendor en el siglo X, cuando se construy\u00f3 aqu\u00ed el mayor puerto del mundo. Para ello se construy\u00f3 un canal que conectaba Rotterdam con el Mar del Norte. Justo detr\u00e1s del ayuntamiento se encuentran los puestos del mercado. A continuaci\u00f3n, la calle Koolsingel le llevar\u00e1 al Museo de Historia y al Museo Mar\u00edtimo. <\/p>\n<p> Es una visita obligada en el vanguardista barrio de Blaak.
