Nowhere in Turkey can you find such a clean sea as in Antalya. But besides the calm turquoise sea, bright sun, wide beaches and fashionable hotels, this ancient land has many extraordinary beauties. By the number of historical monuments the land of Antalya is not inferior to places such as Rome or Athens. And most surprisingly, the main attractions of this resort area are only a few tens of kilometers from any hotel.

One of the most interesting places to visit is Perge. This place is known for the fact that it was here that a coin depicting the goddess Artemis was first minted, from here the military leader Alexander the Great went on his campaigns to conquer new lands, it was here that the apostle Paul preached his first sermon.

Today, the settlement of Perge is a special city-museum. Everything here breathes with history. The passage through Roman and Hellenistic gates leads to an ancient theater. It is something like the Roman Colosseum. This structure could hold about 15,000 spectators at a time. This is where the bloody battles of courageous gladiators used to take place. In Perga today, you can also see the ancient marketplace, Roman baths, and a water canal built by the ancient Greeks.

The town of Aspendos is near Perge. It is picturesquely situated on two large hills. Tourists come here to see the ancient acropolis, mausoleums, as well as an amazingly beautiful theater building, built in the II century AD by the famous architect of Ancient Greece Zeno. In the theater its acoustics are excellent. And today concerts and performances take place there. The voices of the opera singers sound amazing!

Next, tourists should visit Side. The history of the city is closely linked with the history of the whole Turkey. It is a real museum. According to the legend, it is here where the lovers Antony and Cleopatra arranged their rendezvous. This is probably the reason why couples in love like to come here. In Side there is a beautiful temple of Apollo, which shines white against the azure sky. Its fountain of nymphs as well as the ancient Necropolis are of interest. In ancient times, slaves were brought to this place for the slave market, which has survived to this day, as well as the temple of Artemis, the goddess of hunting, and a statue of Emperor Vespasian. This man has remained in history, famous for introducing fees for visiting public toilets, proclaiming that money does not smell. In small souvenir shops in Side you can buy a variety of handmade items at reasonable prices. And the fish restaurants on the seafront are a pleasant and inexpensive way to satisfy your hunger.

Antalya is a land filled with beautiful historical monuments. There is a lot to see here. But the most stunning experience for travelers is a sailing trip along the Green Canyon along the Kepryu River, which stretches for 14 kilometers and is a nature reserve. Underground springs that gush from the bottom of the canyon fill it with the purest water of a delicate turquoise color. Everything here excites tourists: the gloomy, overhanging the water cliffs, charming beauty of waterfalls, air, filled with the scent of pine resin. These voyages usually end in the Hamam, the famous Turkish bath.
