Balloon Festival in Cappadocia

Cappadocia is one of the most beautiful regions of Turkey. It is famous for its picturesque mountain scenery. The many kilometers long plateau is dotted with bizarre cone-shaped rocks, like a magical forest.

There are also countless cave dwellings created by prehistoric men as far back as the Bronze Age. Later they became a refuge for early Christians who were persecuted.

Ihlara Canyon, about 15 km long and up to 150 m deep, has a special attraction for tourists. There are many churches carved directly into the rock.

Ballooning in Cappadocia takes place all year round. The most favorable time is from April to October. The weather is comfortable: the bright sun is warm, the wind blows moderately, and the rains are rare.

Most of the flights take place in the morning hours: in summer from 05:00 to 06:00, and in winter months from 06:00 to 07:00. It is a rare pleasure to meet the sunrise in a hot-air balloon, the amount of positive emotions is simply impossible to measure.

Air travel is also conducted during the day until sunset.

Conquerors of the sky have a stunning natural picture in front of them. In summer, there are hills with rare emerald greenery, incredibly shaped cliffs, and farmlands reclaimed from the mountains. The balloon rises to a height of 500 to 1,000 meters.

This year's Cappadocia Balloon Festival will take place from June 13 to 16. The city of Nevshehir will be the epicenter of the event.

Hundreds of balloons of different colors will soar into the sky. In obedience to the wind, they will float above the ground, allowing their passengers to enjoy beautiful views, vast expanses, and freedom.

In addition to the trip on the hot air balloons and meeting the dawn at the height of the bird's flight, many more interesting events are planned.

The best DJs from Turkey and guest stars will play their sets. Electronic music non-stop from dusk till dawn will be echoing off the surrounding mountains.

Pop and rock artists from different countries will perform on a huge stage. Even those in the back rows will be able to enjoy a live performance. The concerts will be broadcasted on big screens.

The fresh air whets the appetite. On the territory of the festival several pavilions will open at once, where national delicacies will be served. Anyone can sign up for a master class to learn how to cook authentic Turkish dishes.

For those who prefer a quieter pastime, excursions to the underground city of Nevshehir are promised. It was discovered by chance during construction work in 2012. The ancient settlement is approximately 5,000 years old. According to preliminary data, it occupies a territory of 45 hectares. These are streets, galleries, private houses, stores, baths and other public buildings. The archaeological excavations are not yet finished.

Rock dwellings and beautiful nature are best suited for relaxation and zen immersion.

A large-scale light show is planned. The organizers are going to use the night sky and rocks as a background.

Cappadocia Balloon Festival 2019 promises to be the main event of the summer in Turkey. The event should be visited by those who are tired of lazy lying on the beaches, plentiful meals in hospitable all-inclusive hotels and miss the bright emotions.

Flights of hot air balloons are controlled by authorized government agencies. A complete inspection of the craft and equipment is carried out prior to the air journey.
