Exchange rate of Cambodian riel to ruble online

Today the official national currency of Cambodia is the Cambodian riel. Like the Lao kip, the Cambodian riel replaced the Indochinese piastre in 1955. From 1975 to 1980, the Cambodian Riel ceased to exist because the Cambodian government considered it unprofitable currency.

After 1980, the rial again became the current equivalent of the country, but in spite of this, it has not gained much popularity even among the inhabitants of Cambodia and even today is rarely used to pay. Today the most relevant currency of Cambodia is the dollar and it is not surprising because after 1993 a large amount of currency settled in Cambodia. This is primarily due to the UN peacekeeping mission in the country.

The first Cambodian riel was printed during the reign of Pol Pot in 1955, but the currency never went into circulation. Due to the internal crisis in Cambodia, since 1975, the banking and monetary system has collapsed, and the use of the Cambodian riel has ceased altogether.

Until 1980, three foreign currencies prevailed in Cambodia and were used for payment: the Vietnamese dong, the Thai baht, and the U.S. dollar. After 1980, the Cambodian Riel was once again approved as the country's national currency, and on April 1 of that year coins and banknotes were officially launched. One Cambodian riel is equal to 100 senes.

Today, due to the low value of the currency, banknotes in denominations of 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, and 100,000 Cambodian riel are relevant. Because of the high rate of inflation, banknotes with denominations of 50, 100, and 20 riel are extremely rare in Cambodia, as such bills have virtually no value.

According to today's exchange rate of the Cambodian riel, one U.S. dollar is equivalent to 4.077 Cambodian riels. Although the value of the riel is twice as much as the Lao kip, it does not change the fact that the Cambodian currency has no value in the international foreign exchange market. Online exchange rate of Cambodian riel to the ruble to date is 66.69 riel per 1 Russian ruble.

With regard to the ratio of Cambodian currency to other currencies, the rate of Cambodian riel euro today is 4.796 riel per 1 euro. And the rate of the Cambodian riel to the pound sterling is 5.473 riel to 1 pound sterling.
