What to do in Samui with kids on your next family vacation?

Traveling with the family is an enjoyable experience to explore a new country together, but admittedly it can be exhausting to keep the kids entertained.

Fortunately, there is something for everyone on Koh Samui. From the water park to the unique island game called football golf, this beautiful Thai island promises a great time for every member of the family.

1. Ang Thong Marine Park

Ang Thong Marine ParkIt is a protected area of 42 islands on the central coast of the Gulf of Mexico. With the exception of 2 islands, the rest are uninhabited to help preserve Thai wildlife.

In this beautiful marine park, you can see otters and dolphins, turtles and even langurs in their natural habitat. There are many options for snorkeling, kayaking and cave exploration.

Koh Mae Koh, "Mother Island", has a magnificent inland seawater lake that can be reached in 40 minutes. It's strenuous, but you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the marine park.

You can get to Ang Thong Marine Park by speedboat from Koh Samui or take a cheaper but slower alternative to the local ferry. For those families who like camping, you can even spend the night in a tent on the island of Koh Wua Ta Lap.

The best time to visit this park is from March to October when the water is calm.

2. Pink Elephant Samui Water Park

Pink Elephant Samui Water ParkThis water park is located next to Maenam Beach in the north of Koh Samui. It is located 1500 meters from the main road in a palm grove, creating its own breathtaking water world.

The Pink Elephant is aimed at a younger audience (ages 12 and under) and their families, but older kids will still enjoy a few speed slides. Here you will find many water slides from the Lighthouse Tower, including a 12m high speed slide, a bowl slide, a wave pool and a lazy river.

There is also a jacuzzi for those who want to relax and unwind. Family passes are available for two adults and two children for 3,500 baht. After a tiring day of splashing in the water, you can relax in the park's bars and restaurants.

3. Canopy Adventures

4 Samui Football Golf

The goal of the game is to send the soccer ball into the 18 holes as fast as possible using only the legs. Not only is it an enjoyable experience, but Samui Football Golf is set on a beautiful coconut plantation that offers incredible views.

You can play one on one or in teams in which it would be interesting to take part with the whole family. It takes an hour to complete the entire football course, including trees and ditches, turns and logs on easy and difficult routes.

At the end of the game, you can have a snack and drink, relax at the reception. Football Golf is located north of Chaweng on Beach Road.

5. Bophut Beach

Bophut BeachBophut is a beach village in the north of Koh Samui. This is one of the few places on the island that retains its original Thai-Chinese atmosphere and traditions.

In the center of Bophut is the Fisherman's Village, which includes Walking Street, a road crammed with stalls and shoppers selling fabrics, jewelry, shoes, herbs, musical instruments and even handicrafts. On Fridays, this street is filled with live music.

Near Fisherman's Village on Bophut Beach, you can try your hand at water skiing, enjoy a day on the go-kart track, or even get a relaxing pedicure on the beach. This white sand beach is perfect for a day out with the family.

6. Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha)

Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha)This Buddha temple is located on a small island near the northeastern part of Koh Samui. Its main attraction is the 12 meters (40 ft) tall Buddha statue built in 1972.

The Big Buddha is one of the first landmarks seen from an airplane when people are about to land on Koh Samui. The statue depicts the Buddha's journey to enlightenment, and his posture (called Mara's posture) is meant to symbolize purity and steadfastness against all temptations.

At the base of the statue is a courtyard of shops and food stalls, as well as an impressive dragon staircase leading up to the monument. Down the road is a strikingly beautiful beach, now known as Big Buddha Beach.

As soon as the sun sets, the Big Buddha is illuminated by spotlights. During major Thai festivals such as Songkran, this temple becomes incredibly crowded. Since this is a religious place, it is recommended to dress modestly here.

7 Paradise Farm Park

This animal park is located on top of Khao Pom, Koh Samui's highest mountain. At Paradise Farm Park, you can enjoy the comfort of interacting with animals, as well as a relaxing holiday in the forest.

There are 20 acres of lush greenery and domestic animals such as goats, deer, emus and ponies for children to feed and play with. The farm is home to Molly and Marcha, bilingual parrots who will speak to you in Thai and English.

There are many photo opportunities as well as iguanas, monkeys and cockatoos. This animal park has a swimming pool, many beautiful gardens, a playground, restaurants and waterfalls that make it a great place for the whole family.

8. Koh Tan Island

Koh Tan IslandAlso known as Coral Island in the south of Koh Samui, this is a great place for families looking for thrills. It is 7.5 square kilometers with beautiful coral reefs and clear waters that make it ideal for snorkeling.

Coral Island can be reached in just half an hour by boat from Koh Samui. Guided snorkeling tours are available for approximately 5-7 hours.

Not only do you get to see the marine life, excursions often include a short hike through the picturesque Leam Sor Pagoda, Great Mother and Great Father Rocks, and an elephant trek that ends at a beautiful waterfall.

Near the island of Koh Tan is the small island of Matsum, which is famous for its beautiful white sand beach.

9. Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo

Samui Aquarium and Tiger ZooLocated on Ban Harn Beach, this aquarium is a great alternative for families with young children who can't explore Koh Samui's marine life through snorkelling or limited time tourists.

It is designed as a fishing village to show visitors the history of Koh Samui's wildlife, as well as allow for a plethora of marine life to be seen.

The Samui Aquarium is home to leopard sharks, catfish, puffer fish, manta rays and other animals that live in the Gulf of Thailand. You even get the chance to swim with Sasha, the friendly sea lion.

The main attractions of the zoo are Bengal tigers and sea lions, which are part of the daily live performances.
