December 4 Christmas fair opens in HelsinkiDecember 4 Christmas fair opens in Helsinki The largest and most popular Christmas fair in Finland, St. Tuomas, will open in Helsinki in just a week, December 4. It will be open daily until December 22 on the central Senate Square.

By the beginning of the fair, the entire square and surrounding streets will be lavishly decorated with garlands and toys. About a hundred stalls will be set up in the square, where you can buy original local souvenirs made of wool and wood, handmade jewelry, books, Christmas wreaths and candles.

In the central part of the square will be placed tents with refreshments, where you can try a variety of sweets, dishes made with organic products from local farms and, of course, delicious spicy tea, hot chocolate and mulled wine.

For the second year in a row, the fair will feature an antique Dutch merry-go-round, which you can ride for free. And for those who get cold during the walk, they offer a real Finnish sauna, which operates in the courtyard of the Bock House, a couple of minutes' walk from Senate Square. The sauna is free on fair days!

Also, the organizers promise that during these days there will be a lot of interesting entertainment on the square. On regular days the fair will work from 11 am to 8 pm, on weekends - until 10 pm.

Last year the St. Tuomas Christmas Fair was visited by 150,000 guests, and this year the organizers expect even more.
