The city of Pushkin SPb

The city of Pushkin is one of the richest national treasuries of Russian culture, which has world fame.

The palace and park complex includes the most unique monuments of architecture and landscape art of Russia. The center of the entire ensemble is the luxurious three-hundred-meter-high Catherine Palace.

Azure walls, black lace balcony lattices, wide windows, stucco sculptures amaze and fall in love at first sight.

Great architects Rastrelli, Kvasov, and Chevakinsky took part in its construction, succeeding each other. On the territory of the three parks there are more than a hundred architectural structures: majestic palaces, monumental monuments, pavilions and bridges. The alleys and terraces are decorated with magnificent sculptures. The interiors of the palaces and pavilions were created according to the designs of prominent architects of Russia.

The center of the park is the Great Pond with islands, which resembles a forest lake. In the landscape park there are marble monuments erected by A. Rinaldi and architectural structures of small forms.

Они принимали участие в строительстве зданий окружающих дворец. С севера – это флигель Лицея, с юга – постройки в стиле древнеримских терм: Агатовый павильон Холодной бани и галерея для прогулок, окруженная ионическими колоннами (Камеронова галерея).

Not far from the Catherine Palace in 1790, Quarenghi built the classical austere and majestic Alexander Palace.

Along with the ensemble of the Catherine Palace the city of Pushkin is rich in monuments, which are associated with the name of A. Pushkin. The poet lived in Tsarskoye Selo during his studies at the Lyceum. Here he wrote his first poems, made his first friends and became a great man.

The Lyceum building adjoins the Catherine Palace and is connected to it by an arch spanning the road. During the war the monuments of Pushkin were destroyed and looted. The revival of the palace and the park took a long time, and the famous Amber Room was restored according to the surviving drawings only recently.
