The best mountain resorts for a spring vacation

The skiing season is slowly coming to an end, and those who did not have time to ski, are trying to decide where to go in April. The weather forecasters assure that winter is snowy and the snowfall is enough to ensure the good spring skiing. But besides good expectations, the snowstorms brought problems: the avalanche danger increased almost everywhere in European resorts.

Definitely, when choosing a place to ski in April, you need to go either to where the mountains are higher and there are glaciers, or in countries where the spring heat comes with a delay.

The most visited Austrian resort, Sölden, usually ends the ski season first in May. Until then, the slopes are suitable for skiing and also for getting a nice tan. Much quieter village Zell am Ziller, which has become the center of the ski valley Zillertal in recent years. This resort is beloved by snowboarders, because for them there are 20 special trails.

At 25 km from Innsbruck is the Stubai Glacier, where you can ski at least until the end of May.

The resort at Hintertux operates year-round, but in the off season, almost 70% slopes will probably be closed. There are few other attractions here, because many of the slopes are quite difficult and the bulk of the visitors are aimed at the ski vacation itself.

The other alpine countries provide fewer options. For example, in France you can ski on the glacier, which is located in the resort of Tignes, in Italy - in Cervinia, and in Switzerland - in Zermatt.

When you do not want to climb the highlands, you have to go to the North of Europe. Here it is almost impossible to find extreme trails, but the places are excellent for beginners.
