Visiting Yellowstone Park

Yellowstone Park is considered one of America's most visited parks. And this is justified. After all, in one year it is visited by more than two million tourists from different parts of the world. Yellowstone Park is located on the territory of three states in the northern part of the country: Wyoming, Montana, Idaho. Its total area is nine thousand square kilometers. There are a lot of geysers, waterfalls, and hot springs in the park. The aquatic portion of the park makes up five percent of its total area. One of the largest lakes on the territory has an area of 350 square kilometers, and a depth of 115 meters!

Flora and fauna are also astonishingly diverse. Here the nature has been preserved undisturbed by the interference of human hands. There are about two thousand species of different plants - ordinary and exotic. But the park also has its own threat - frequent forest fires, which occur in this area.

The fauna in Yellowstone Park is the richest when compared to the flora of the entire United States. There are animals such as grizzly bears, coyotes, wolves, bobcats, cougars, black and white-tailed deer, snow rams, antelope, elk, and others. Many species of birds and fish also live in the park. Salmon are especially valued here. Fishing, by the way, is allowed in Yellowstone, but only with a license. But hunting is strictly forbidden and prosecuted.

In the summertime the park is quite warm, but the winters are cold - the temperature drops to -5°C. You can visit the park at any time of the year. However, because of bad weather, some parts of the park are closed. Tourists have the opportunity to stay not only outside the park, but also on its territory. There are 9 hotels, stores and gas stations. Everything is organized for your convenience and comfortable leisure. Also in the park is impossible to get bored. After all, within its boundaries, there are museums and information centers (there are 9 of them).
