Ski resorts in the U.S.

Nature has been quite generous in bestowing the United States. The variety of climatic conditions from the tropics of Florida to frosty and snowy Alaska, combined with mineral springs and mountain ranges creates perfect natural conditions for the formation of numerous resorts, including various ski resorts in the United States.

Ponte Vedra Beach is an unincorporated community of St. Johns County. A very prestigious resort, popular as the location of the Professional Golf Association and a chapter of the Association of Tennis Professionals.

San Valle ("sunny valley") represents ski resorts in the U.S. and town of Blaine County. The resort's stellar hour came with the arrival of the 1932 Lake Placid Olympics, when entrepreneur Averell Harriman invited the Austrian professional skier Felix Schaffgotsch to study the Rocky Mountains in detail to find the best location to create a high-class ski resort.

In just seven months and with an investment of $1.5 million, a four-story resort was created and ski trails were built on Proctor and Dollar Mountains.

Snowbasin is the oldest ski resort in the United States, established in 1939 as part of a campaign to improve land near the town of Ogden that had suffered from immense cattle grazing. In the fifty years since it opened, Snowbasin was shaping up relatively slowly until its current owner, Robert Holding, paid for the construction of the current lifts as well as the purchase of snowmaking machines. In 2002 the resort was used in the ski program of the Olympic Games. Its slopes were used for competitions in the super-G, combination and downhill.

The resort is located on Ogden. There are 12 elevators at Snowbasin, which serves 104 ski slopes.
