New Yorkers: What are they like?

New Yorkers differ from other Americans to such an extent that the latter are immediately visible in the crowd, let alone tourists. And that's because the image of the people of this ever-energetic city has become surrounded by myths, not without the help of cinematography, of course. So what are New Yorkers really like?

1. they don't all live in Manhattan

Other neighborhoods and neighborhoods in the city also have life, and houses with courtyards, and parking lots. But tourists rarely get there, unless they overslept their subway station.

2. New Yorkers never look up

The events in King Kong are far removed from real life, not because a giant ape climbed the 102-story Empire State Building, but because New Yorkers noticed it. They never look up. Why is that?

3. they never stop

Only tourists enjoy endlessly beautiful views of New York City, feel all the charm of Times Square, right in the middle of the street choose an angle to take good pictures. What's more, they notice that there are stars on the vaults of Grand Central Station. Now that's definitely not typical of a real New Yorker!

4. they are always in a hurry to catch the subway, bus, or train

Most New Yorkers are well aware of the "charms" of public transport. For example, the doors of the train may slam in the face of a late passenger, which could mean that the next one will be a couple of minutes away or that he will get home only in the morning. The latter option doesn't happen often, but it's better not to take any chances. Because if you're stuck in the subway and the bus stop is far away, you'll have to take a cab...

The only exceptions are when a person has had a little too much to drink and can't remember their subway line, or if you need to get from Queens to La Guardia Airport.

6. In the subway they always observe etiquette

If a New Yorker sees that another passenger has difficulty standing due to age (both large and small) or injury, he will always give up his seat. But he will not try to forcibly seat a 64-year-old grandmother who is still running marathons and feeling fine. Also, he will never go to the part of the carriage that for some reason is not occupied by anyone, because he knows: those who don't want to go there already smell suspicious.

7. They have nothing against pizza for 99 cents

Everyone in New York has a favorite pizza place, but there's no shame in buying a slice on the run sometimes, because everyone knows how expensive it is to live there and how fast you have to get around.

8. They are used to the stars

It's not about the planetarium. It's just that a lot of celebrities live in this city, and it's common for a New Yorker to ask a celebrity a question or to argue for a seat in a bar.
