Why go to New York

We have seen so many movies about or in New York that it seems we already know it as our hometown. However, it is worth going there if only to revive the pictures and photographs of the city we all know. In New York you have to walk the streets and parks, take pictures of people and famous buildings, sit in cafes and bars. There's nothing supernatural about it. Even the places to visit have long been known to everyone: Times Square, Wall Street Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Empire State Building, Broadway, Chinatown.

However, there are things we will never know without seeing them with our own eyes. For example, how and by whom Central Park was planned. Everything in the park was designed by landscape architects Frederick Lo Olmsted and Calvert Vox. Although some portions of the park seem wild or grown by accident, everything was in fact strictly thought out. Work began as early as 1858. A team of gardeners, architects, and engineers worked for eighteen years before the park was officially opened. Now you can spend an entire day in Central Park. New Yorkers like to spend weekends here with family and friends, having picnics, and running in the morning or coming in at lunchtime with coffee and a laptop (the park has free wireless Internet).

Also in New York, the Museum of Modern Art is a must-see because it is considered one of the best in the world. This six-story spacious glass building is filled with masterpieces of world art: Monet's "Water Lilies", Picasso's "Girls of Avignon" and Van Gogh's "Starry Night"...

Why go to New York On Wall Street, the city's main financial street, where the major banks and the New York Stock Exchange are headquartered, stands a huge bronze bull. It symbolizes capitalism and hard-working stock traders. Of course there is a tradition of touching the bull by the horns, and not only that it brings good luck and money.

If you're in New York City for the Christmas holidays, you should definitely check out Rockefeller Center. This complex of several dozen skyscrapers is known for the ice rink and the city's main Christmas tree, which is installed at Rockefeller Plaza.

And don't forget to take a walk down one of the most famous streets in the world - Fifth Avenue. It has hundreds of head offices of all the fashion boutiques of the world, they are decorated like museums, because you really have to fight for the right to have a store on this street.
