Tourism in Armenia

Armenia is landlocked, but it is loved by tourists for its mountains. Armenia is a country of high mountain ranges, river valleys, intermountain depressions, lonely peaks and plateaus. In the ancient castles and churches, majestic cliffs and canyons many mysteries lurk. Since there are many churches and monasteries here, pilgrims often come here to visit prominent shrines. Fishermen, mountain climbers, rafting enthusiasts, mountain skiing enthusiasts, hunting enthusiasts, and those who enjoy healing springs also come to Armenia.

Visitors to Armenia can stay in hotels, boarding houses, sanatoriums and tourist bases. The most convenient way to travel in this country are buses, shuttles and cabs.

Naturally, tourists love to get acquainted with the dishes of national cuisine. When you come to Armenia, you should try "khorovats" (royal kebab, it includes four kinds of meat, each marinated in a specific sauce), "kutap" (baked trout stuffed with ginger, raisins and rice), many cheeses and lavash. Interesting dishes are "poch" (beef tail chowder), "arganak" (chicken and deer meat in broth), kefir soup "spas". Those with a sweet tooth will love peaches stuffed with cinnamon and walnuts, candied apricots, and "churchkhela" (sweet sausages).

Popular Armenian souvenirs include Armenian brandy ("Noy", "Armenika", "Ararat", "Sayat Nova"), carpets with ethnic motifs, copper Turks, amulet dolls, bronze figurines and wooden crafts.
