Visa to Thailand for Ukrainians: ways to obtain, the cost and renewal of visas

To apply for a tourist visa at the Thai Embassy, in addition to a passport and a visa application form (download form) filled out in English (filling example), you will need:

• Photo size 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm;

• Certificate from the place of work or study, drawn up on a special form, indicating the details of the company, position, date of employment, the necessary signatures from the director and accountant, as well as clarifying that during the trip to Thailand, the workplace remains with you;

• Pension certificate for pensioners;

• Copies of pre-paid tickets to and from Thailand or confirmation of their booking;

• A copy of the medical insurance of those who travel abroad for the duration of the trip;

• Documents confirming your financial capabilities: an extract from your bank on the account balance of at least 20 thousand THB (650$) per person, 40 thousand THB (1300$) per family or traveler's checks.

Visa on arrival

If the option of traveling to the capital and processing documents there does not suit you, then you can immediately receive a 15-day stamp on arrival in Thailand, “visa on arrival” - a visa on arrival. The cost of a visa is 1000 THB (33-35 USD), you need to pay for everyone, even for children. In order not to stand in a tedious queue, you will have to pay 1200 THB for urgency.

• International passport;

•  2 color photos of 4 cm x 6 cm format, taken at least six months before departure to Thailand, or use the instant photo service at the airport;

• Application form for a visa, completed in English (filling example). Filling out the questionnaire is provided in advance, if you did not take advantage of this opportunity, the form and sample of filling out the questionnaire can be obtained at the place of arrival at the airport at the Immigration counter;

• Migration card (Arrival and Departure), the first is taken at the entrance, the second, respectively, at the exit. The card can be issued by flight attendants on the plane, or can be obtained at the point of arrival at the airport at the Immigration counter.

• Ticket with return date;

•  Money needed to cover expenses while living in Thailand.

When preparing documents, it is worth remembering that the passport must be valid for at least another six months after entering Thailand. It is also mandatory to have at least one free page marked "visa". As for the amount you need to carry with you, it should generally be 650 $ per person or 1300 $ per family (cash).

After the tightening of the visa regime in Thailand in 2014, you may also be asked for a copy of the voucher confirming the reservation of a room in one of the local hotels.

Visa to Thailand for children

There are several ways to apply for a child visa:

• Fit in the passport of the parents. It is also necessary to attach the child's documents there (photos, copies of tickets, certificates from studies, birth certificates, permission to leave from parents). In their case, a separate questionnaire is not filled out, all data is entered into the parents' questionnaire.

• The presence of a separate travel document. If the child already has his own passport, then obtaining a visa to Thailand follows the same principle as for adults.

If the child travels in the company of one of the parents, the second must give written permission in advance for this trip. And for a trip to Thailand accompanied by third parties, as in the case of a 15-day visa, a notarized power of attorney from the parents and the original birth certificate of the child is required.

The embassy is located on Mykoli Bazhan Avenue, opposite the Boris clinic. You can get there by metro. You should get off at the Osokorky station, from there it is a little over 15 minutes walk to the embassy.

It is noteworthy that the embassy may not work even on normal working days for us, since Thai holidays do not always coincide with European ones. Therefore, before you go there, you need to clarify the days of its work on the website or by calling the embassy. Except weekends, the office is open Monday through Friday. The working day starts at nine in the morning and ends at six in the evening. The lunch break lasts from one to two.

If for some reason the applicant cannot submit the application, the documents can be submitted by anyone, the receipt is carried out in person or by proxy.

After submitting the documents, you will have to wait a few days. A more specific date will be told to you at the embassy itself. They will also give you a number that you can call to clarify whether the visa is ready or not.

How to extend a Thai visa

Staying in the country after the expiration of the visa is punishable by a fine of 500 THB for each overdue day. But if you need to stay on the territory of the kingdom longer than provided by the documents issued in advance, then the visa can be extended in Thailand itself. To do this, you need to arrive at the local immigration office.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), from 8.30 to 16.30. There is also a lunch break from 12.00 to 13.00.

Before leaving, you should prepare in advance a set of all necessary documents:

• Original passport and photocopy of data page, Thai visa page and exit stamp.

• Form TM6 (immigrant card, which is attached at the exit from the country by a customs officer).

• Form TM7, which can be completed on the spot.

• The amount of 1900 BHT, which will have to pay for a visa extension for 30 days.

In general, the whole procedure takes no more than 10 minutes. Examples of how to fill out the documents are on the stands in the embassy. In addition, if you have any questions, volunteers working in the organization are always ready to help you.

After filling out the documents, you need to give it to one of the Thai officers who will check the correctness of their filling and put all the stamps on your documents. It will take no more than 15 minutes, after which, you will receive a ready-made passport with a visa extended for the required period.
