How to get there

The easiest way is to fly to Krabi Airport, which is 12 km from Krabi Town and 40 km from Ao Nang. Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways, Tiger Airways, and Air Asia operate flights here. A plane ticket to Krabi can cost 2,500-3,000 baht or more.

There you can rent a car right near the airport or take a cab to the hotel. You can take a bus to Krabi for 90 baht.

By train. The nearest station is in Surat Thani and Trang, which is 20 km from Krabi. From there, the resort is easily accessible by shuttle bus.

If you need to come here from major cities such as Phuket, Samui, Surat Thani, etc., choose a direct bus. For example, public transportation from Phuket or Samui will cost 150 baht, travel time is 3.5-4 hours. Shuttle cabs will get you to Krabi Town even faster, in 2 hours.

 

Krabi Beaches

Ao Nang is a place that combines a huge number of cafes, restaurants and diving centers. The bay is located just 20 km from the island of Krabi. The beaches there - it's incredibly white sands, spread out at the foot of the cliffs. The most popular beach for visitors is Hat Rei Le, which consists of an eastern and western part. The southern beach - a sandy shore, which is much larger and quieter than the island of Ao Nang, but the eastern part - the exact opposite: muddy ground and mangroves. Hat Nopharat Nang is a place with crystal clear water and huge rocks and caves. You can only get here by boat. Tourists come here all year round, but this does not prevent the place from being quiet and peaceful. Phra Nang is also not far from Krabi Town, and there is an unbelievable variety of things to do. You can also have a secluded vacation on the wild beach of Klong Muang.

The island of Wat Tham Suea (translated as "tiger cave") is located 10 km from Krabi Town. It attracts visitors here with its caves and myths about the findings. Tourists come here not only to relax in the clear and warm waters, but also to look at the legendary image of the tiger on the cave wall.

No less popular is the vicinity of Tham Sadet Cave. It is located 7 km from the resort. The beach here is as beautiful as anywhere else in the province of Krabi Town. However, the caves here you can see a countless number of stalagmites and stalactites, photos of which flew around the world.

Attractions and Entertainment

The main attractions in Krabi Thailand are Bokkhornik National Park, a monastery with a tiger cave in Wat Tzam-Sua, the caves of the islands of Tham Lod and Tham Phi Hua-To Tham, Ethnological Museum and waterfalls Hua-Said and Klong-Haeng.

The most important attraction locals consider the Khao Khanap Nam Cave, which can be reached from the pier by boat in 15 minutes. The views from the boat into the cave are incredible.

 

The best excursions, according to tourists, are trips to the islands of Samui, Hong or Phi Phi, "Hot Springs and swimming in the lagoon", "sea safari" on the islands of Ko Tab, Ko Pod and Ko Talu. From Ao Nang Beach you can get tours to Ko Kai, Hat Rei Le, Tham Phra Pozh.

Songteo

Songteo is a vehicle that looks like a pickup truck with a bench and a roof built into it. In total, there are 3 routes of this transport on the island of Krabi. There are no usual shuttle numbers there, it has to be identified by the color of the Songteo:

  • Blue and red - going from Krabi Town to Tesco Hypermarket and back. The ticket price for the flight is 40 baht.
  • Blue with colored stripes or just white go to Ao Nang through the airport. The ticket price is 60 baht.
  • The brown sunteo will take you from Krabi Town to the central bus station, from where you can go to any part of Thailand. The cost of such a trip is 20 baht.

All of these routes necessarily pass Krabi Street and Maharat Street, where you can ask to stop to take a commemorative photo. At the end stations, the sungteo stand for at least 20 minutes until the cabin is full of people. No, they don't wait for the bus to be full - they still pick up everyone on the way.

Cab and motorcycle cab

Usually cabs in Krabi are red. Prices, like everywhere else, are negotiable. Be sure to haggle before you get in the car: the amount may differ from the original by a factor of 2. In general, be guided by the standard prices for the entire island: 300 baht to any beach from Ao Nang, 500 baht - from Krabi Town to the bus station or airport. Drivers here do not care how many people to take: so you can gather a small group and split the bill equally.

 

Mototaxi is a kind of transport, which is not found on the streets of the city. Here you are offered a ride on a motorcycle on the back seat. Right under the open sky of Krabi Town. Motorcycle cab is cheaper than a cab, but more expensive than a tuk-tuk, the typical cost of a ride from 150 baht.
