A shooting at a local bar killed one person

An argument at a bar in South Pattaya led to a shooting that left 2 people hospitalized with serious gunshot wounds.

In the early morning hours of September 11, police were called to the Teng Si liquor store in the village of Rungland after multiple gunshots were heard in the neighborhood. When officers arrived on the scene, they noticed two wounded men lying on the pavement outside the store.

Anuvat Suksamran, 37, aka Ti Lai Hopai, had gunshot wounds to his abdomen, right leg and back, and a stab wound to his right arm. The victim's head was smashed. He died of his injuries later that day. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

The second casualty was Chatchai Srisane, also 37 years old. He was wounded in his left eye. Chatchai is in critical condition at Chonburi City Hospital.

Police cordoned off the area and a subsequent check found eight expired cartridges, two bullets, and large pools of blood on the ground. Officers also checked the store's video surveillance system and questioned witnesses.

Thawatchai Singhamart, a 24-year-old Teng Si employee, said he had an argument with another group of customers who were celebrating a birthday before filming Anuwat.

The guards asked the parties to disperse, which they did, but suddenly things heated up and during the scuffle Anuwat drew his gun and Chathai was shot and killed. A fierce firefight ensued in which the security team returned fire and wounded Anuwat in several places.

Police say the motive for the shooting is still unknown and may be the result of a personal dispute or conflict.

According to the police, the security guard is the main suspect in connection with the shooting. His arrest is expected to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
