Krabi Airport KBV: how to get to/from the airport
Phuket and Samui are leading as mass and inexpensive vacation destinations in Thailand. Every year, 10-12 million people rest on these islands, which accounts for about 60% of the total tourist flow.

Krabi province is significantly behind the leaders, in addition to the aforementioned islands, skipping ahead to the central region of Thailand. Krabi is visited by 1.5 million tourists annually. The airport's capacity of 3 million people a year is a small figure for a tourist area.
Krabi Airport - general information
Krabi Airport (KBV) is an international airport, but it is a local one. It is small, with no frills inside: there are no expensive stores and duty-free stores. There are two terminals for passengers. They do not have any fundamental differences from each other.
In each function:
- car rental stations;
- A ticketing point for the bus shuttle to Krabi Town and Ao Nang;
- exchange office;
- point of sale of services of cellular companies;
- hotel reservation point;
- infirmary;
- lockers;
- cafes, small grocery stores;
- help desk.
Both terminals are four-story. All listed services and facilities are located on the first floor. The luggage of arriving passengers is also issued here.
The second floor is used as an arrivals hall.
On the third - is the registration of passengers for departure, waiting rooms are organized for departing passengers. All halls are equipped with information boards.
The fourth floor is administrative. The parking lot is located near each terminal.
There is one asphalt runway with a length of 3 km for the departure and receipt of aircraft. The airport can serve various types of aircrafts, including the 330th Airbus.
Airlines and flights at Krabi airport
As of early 2016, local flights are operated by Thailand's major national carriers:
- Thai Airways International
- Bangkok Airways
Within the country you can get on flights of famous low-cost carriers:
- Thai Air Asia
- Thai Lion Air
Flights within Thailand are to the following destinations:
- Bangkok
- Chiang Mai
- Samui
International flights take up the majority of the Krabi airport schedule. There are no direct flights. Most of the flights connect in Bangkok. Part of the route (on the Bangkok-Krabi section) is operated by Thai airlines.
The airline partner of most carriers is Bangkok Airways. In second place is Thai Airways. Aeroflot is among the few airlines that operate flights to Krabi with a connection in Bangkok on their own, without the help of Thai carriers.
How to get there from the airport
Krabi Airport on the map is located far from populated areas and resort areas (given by road):
- The distance to Krabi Town is 12 km;
- The distance to Ao Nang is 28 km.

If you want, you can take a cab to any place, including Surat Thani and Phuket Town, which are quite a distance away. A trip to these places will cost 2,500 baht per car.
How to get to the airport from nearby resorts
Buses from the beaches of the coast of Ao Nang to the airport take the following route:
- Nopparat Thara beach;
- Krabi resort;
- Pra Nang Beach;
- A stop near McDonald's in Ao Nang;
- Krabi Town (stop at Chaofa Road);
- Krabi airport.
The frequency of buses is hourly, starting at 6:00 from the beach Nopparat Thara.
You can also catch a bus to the airport at the Krabi Town stations:
- The central terminal - Krabi bus terminal;
- Talad Kao station in the north of Krabi Town - Talad Kao.
Vacationers on Phi Phi, Lanta, and East Raleigh should take a ferry or boat to the pier in Krabi Town. Vacationers on the coasts of Ao Ton Sai and West Reilly sail by sea to Ao Nang Pier. Then, to get to the airport, you need to follow the described bus route.
