Czech Republic. Going on vacation to Brno

The Czech Republic has long been famous for its architecture and its cuisine. That is why in Brno guests will be treated to legendary dishes and enjoy the exquisite architecture. Brno is the first capital of the Moravian principality, whose lords protected their castles and peasants from the raids of the Turkish sultans. Brno lies in the vine-covered valleys of the swift tributaries of the Danube - the Svitavy and the Svaratka, which wash their waters over the fertile Moravian plain.

The city of Brno is associated with a fact that is dear to the heart of every biologist. In the local Augustinian monastery, the monk Gregor Mendel crossed peas. Part of the peas ended up in the famous pea soup with smoked ribs and rye bread crumbs. And some of the peas Mendel immortalized in the foundations of genetics, laying down the principles of heredity and variability.

History buffs also have something to do here. The Battle of Austerlitz took place in the suburbs of Brno in the early 19th century. The young Napoleon brilliantly defeated two armies, the Russian and Austrian, and thus decided the fate of Europe for the next decade.

Only Leo Tolstoy could describe the Art Nouveau architecture of 20th century Brno and the taste of beer in the small knoops. The former, the architecture, is listed as a World Heritage Site.
