Excursion "Getting to Know Phang Nga Province"

Phang nga

Phnang Nga is the closest province to Krabi. Its distinctive feature is a large number of national parks, one of the famous is a rocky marine national park which includes dozens of islands, as well as the Khao Lak National Park and the beach area of the same name, which has gained popularity among tourists.

Sixty-five square kilometers of Khao Sok Park is occupied by Thailand's largest lake Cheo Lan.

Cheow Lan Lake is surrounded by a ring of limestone cliffs. The lake has an area of 65 square kilometers and the deepest point is 150 m. The lake is of artificial origin and was born in the early 1980s as a result of the construction of a dam. In this case, at the bottom of the lake remained two Thai villages with all the buildings, school and temple.

Now Lake Cheo Lan is the main source of fresh water for the entire region. It is remarkable because it is located in the fracture of karst mountains that protrude from the bottom of the lake to heights of more than 1,000 meters. The vertical rocks are covered with bizarre stalactites and there are many caves and grottoes everywhere. There are only a few places on our planet that are comparable to Cheo Lan Lake.

Special attention is paid to the 3 m cliffs in Guilin Bay: there is a legend that they were "three brothers" who competed for the heart of a beautiful princess. This landscape is the hallmark of Lake Cheo Lan and every tourist who has been here considers it his duty to take a photo against the backdrop of these wonderful rocks.

Cheo Lan Lake

Khao Sok National Park and Cheo Lan Lake is one of the most interesting and beautiful places in southern Thailand, and it is impossible to miss such a sight.

After a longtail ride around the lake, you will have a stunning view from the observation deck on the Ratchaprapa Dam and a visit to the new Buddhist temple Wat Bang Thong with its 109-meter golden stupa.

On the way to the lake we will stop at the Bang Riang Temple, which is not part of the typical tourist route and has a very valuable relic for Buddhism - the tooth of the Buddha!
