Surin Beach is one of the coziest beaches on the west coast of Phuket.

Surin is located in the central part of Phuket. From the northern part it borders on Bang Tao Beach, which is connected to it only by a highway line. 20 minutes drive to Patong, so to visit Bangla Road you will have to share with local taxi drivers - 500 baht.

The beach is quite wide, but in the high season it is crowded and packed with sunbeds. Some tourists prefer to sunbathe under the trees on the grass. The sand has small fractions, almost white. Ebb and flow are imperceptible here. The entrance is gentle, but after 10 m depth.

The waves are strong, even if they seem small.

Since 2014, Surin Beach, one of the first in Phuket, has been cleared of commercial activity. All commercial structures, including deck chair and umbrella speculators, were moved to the mainland. Some were completely closed.

But it is possible to rent an umbrella - 100 baht per day, or for 200 baht, zones with two mattresses. Free shared showers are available.

In the low season, swimming in the sea becomes even dangerous due to strong waves.

Although the sea is very rarely calm during the season. During the influx of tourists, the beach is divided into zones for bathers. It is good for children to swim here, but there is not enough space for games.

On the promenade, which is located next to the beach, there are open cafes where you can have a bite to eat.

Prices for food in the beach area, including in macarons, are slightly higher than on the same Karon or Patong. The sheer mass of restaurants and bars in general can amaze you with the cost of meals if you are not used to paying more than 300 baht for lunch.

The main part of cafes, shops, macaques, massages, salons closes around 9 pm.

On the beach itself, at 9 pm, local restaurants and bars, along with the setting sun, arrange a light and music show reflected in the waves of the Adaman Sea. The sight itself makes you fall in love with this place with all your heart.

How to get there

From Bangkok by plane

You can fly from Bangkok to Phuket from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The cost of a one-way flight per person is from 1500 baht, for morning flights the prices are much lower.

The cheapest flights are from Dong Mueang Airport.

The cost of a one-way ticket per person will cost up to 1500 baht. It is better to book tickets 3-4 weeks before departure, because. on the day of departure, there may not be any tickets at all.

From Bangkok by bus

Buses depart from the South and North bus stations. Travel time takes about 12 hours without traffic jams. The fare is 600-1000 baht per person.

From Phuket Airport

The most convenient way to get to the beach is by ordering a taxi right at the airport upon arrival on the island. The average price for taxi services will be from 450 to 600 baht.

You can use public transport, which will cost less than a taxi. In most cases, ticket prices depend on which transport company owns the bus.

In time, a taxi ride from the airport will take no more than 30 minutes. If you use public transport, the journey can take about an hour. The cost of a seat in a minibus is from 150 baht, usually they go to Patong, Karon and Kata.

Songteos from Phuket Town can be reached in 40 minutes. The characteristic cost is 40 baht. You can get from other beaches with a transfer in Phuket Town, or by tuk-tuks.

Housing

Like any vacation, a trip to Surin needs to be planned in advance, in which case you can choose the best option for temporary housing on the beach. The problem here is that there are quite a few hotels in Surin, even by local standards the cost of a room is quite high.

If you pre-book a room, you can find an option for 800 baht per day.

There are not many properties for rent here. There are only two hotels on the first line. The rest of the hotels are located no closer than 200 meters from the coastline. The cost of apartments starts from 1500 baht and above. You can find an inexpensive hostel.

It is much cheaper to rent a condo, but again, you need to book a few months before the trip, the rental price is on average from 30 to 40 thousand a month.

During the season there is a large influx of tourists and there is little free housing.

There are also apartments here. The price will depend on the type of complex, the number of bedrooms, as well as the distance from the sea. On average, the cost of an apartment will cost 1500 baht per day. For 30,000 baht per month, you can rent a spacious apartment of 60 sq. meters.

Stores

 There are many shops on the beach that sell all sorts of things. From shells to household appliances. Store prices vary. You can go to the local market and find everything you need.

At 50 meters there is a pedestrian street, where you can also buy something for little things. For more serious purchases, you should go to the large Plaza, Ginger, Pimol Minimart stores, where there is a large selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories.

In Lemongrass you can buy all sorts of oils and lotions made from natural ingredients.

In addition to them, in Bang Tao there is a Tesco Lotus hypermarket, where there is a huge selection of products and manufactured goods.

Attractions

It turns out that Surin has a very ancient history, so traces of the Khmer Empire have been preserved here. In order to see these sights, you need to make a hike in the dense jungle. Here are the oldest temples, for example, Tamyanthom.

In the villages of Ban Ta Kland and Tambon Krafo, you can watch the process of training elephants. In addition, Surin has a large number of Buddhist temples, there is also a Muslim mosque built in a very interesting style.

The famous waterfall Mae Surin, where you can swim. Its height is about 80 meters, and the surrounding mountains are about 1752 meters high. This is a one-cascade waterfall, which is located in a rather inaccessible place.
